Excellent addition to any Krautrock collection. The next song, "What Are You Doin'" is much in the same vein as the previous cut, but I really can't stomach the preachy, anti-drug message in the lyrics, this band totally predates Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" by a full decade. All-in-all, this is definitely a prototypical '70s heavy progressive outfit and it has the spirit of most UK bands from to , including vocals with a flawless English pronunciation. The rather pastoral folky beginning seems to prove these ominous expectations wrong but the heavy progressive organ driven rock of this German outfit comes close to what the artwork suggests. Dream Of A Drummer 9: When listening, Keef Hartley's 'Halfbreed' comes into my mind on every occasion as for a rough orientation.
Actually their sole album was released on the rare ultra-small Pilz label in 72, which contributes to a lot of this album legendary status of ultra-collectible, a reputation that very few albums live to, but there will be no Delusion with this one.
Opening the album, the title track is jumping out directly at you with the flute and acoustic guitar strums, gradually picking up, much like OOF would, not least the opening verse sounding if Moran had sung it. The compositions aren't melodic soundroon to inspire a killer hard rock based blues album and it's not nearly creative or adventurous enough to enter the true psychedelic bizarr-o-sphere either.

MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM Delusion reviews
Choose an option CD Clear. About ten minutes dedicated to a drummer - you may call this a weak spot The cover of the gatefold sleeve promises soundoom darkness and madness - A skull in a bird's nest on the back and a skull covered with candle wax on the front.

This easily could have been one long track but for whatever reason they broke it up into two parts. Organ, guitar and flute are excellently complementing each other - the song structure is rather complex. Though a Swiss band, you could swear they were British. It opens with organ before a dark mood arrives a minute in. Then give McChurch Soundroom a try.
Not a bad song but I really can't get into the more uptempo sections with vocals. Please consider supporting us by disabling your ad blocker.
McChurch Soundroom – Delusion
Looking for another obscurity? The closing soujdroom tracks are part of the same Trouble track, sounrdoom ideal space for a disguised jam with the superb flute, bass drum guitar jcchurch theme. Solemn organ parts lead the listener to the darkest and dirtiest backstreet pub before getting struck by powerfully rocking jazz passages.
This solo album is a ddelusion of a UFO in Switzerland's early 70's skies, with this quintet that produced an early 70's UK proto prog, somewhere stuck between Ten Years After's progressive blues rock, but these guys were Alemanic Swiss except for "McChurch" their singer that is Italian-Swiss and had a fairly close feeling to Munich's Out Of Focus as well.
Good but I think that the first picture is Panta Rei a band from Hungary!! So whatever the case, McChurch Soundroom's Delusion is another great album to add to your collection if you like early Jethro Tull This Was, Stand Up and underground bluesy, jazzy prog rock in general. Listening beyond the melodies, there are some weird rhythm patterns.
A recommendable item, in particular when you are searching for some fresh and elaborated stuff which documents the transition from common heavy blues to the progressive rock department. Both Trouble Parts finally resemble some Jethro Tull influence again, nothing unusual though regarding this time. Vocals before a minute.
For fans of Gravy Train or early Jethro Tull.
Being crazy must be of importance here but McChurch Soundroom are sensitive to dynamic as well, keeping the listeners attention when it comes to lengthy instrumental jam parts with duels and dialogues. Corrected version of Ben Miler's article.
